Beaches of Athens

Schinias beach: it is located 45 km northeast of Athens. It is a very long beach which often gets crowded and is much loved by windsurfers, there is a windsurfing club available there and there is access by public bus from the center of Athens.

Legrana beach: it is located 64 km southeast of Athens. It is near the temple of Poseidon at Sounio, unorganised, popular for diving, there are many taverns nearby and it can be accessed by public bus.

Porto Rafti beach: it is located 35 km southeast of Athens.It is a very popular beach, protected by strong winds, organised with plenty of parking, Cafeterias, taverns and night bars.

Lagonisi: it is located 40 km south east of Athens. It is organised and it has a spa and lunch service by the beach. There is a nice bar by the beach also.

Kavouri beach: it is located 20 km south of Athens. There are many coves and two main beaches (megalo and mikro kavouri). The water is shallow and it is good for families. There are taverns by the beach and the beaches are accessible by public bus. They get crowded at weekends.

Kokkino Limanaki beach: it is located 27 km east of the capital. It is a very quiet spot with a few camping sites.

Loutsa beach: it is located 30 km east of the capital. It is an overcrowded beach and a bit dirty for swimming. It is great by night with lots of taverns, cafes, restaurants. It is also a great spot for windsurfing, much loved by windsurfers.

Varkiza beach: it is located 27 km south of the capital. It is an organized beach. There are snack bars, cafes and access by public bus.

Alimos beach: it is located 11 km south of the capital. It is a nice sandy organized beach, close to the city. There are water sports available and it gets overcrowded in summer. It is good for children and there are waterslides on the spot.

Glyfada beach: it is located 16 km south of the capital. There are good clubs and bars in the town and on the beach. It is one of the most popular places in the summer.

Anavissos beach: clean waters, gold sand, popular for windsurfing. It is a very organized beach, the waters are shallow therefore good for families and also good for diving, it is located near cape Sounio.

Kalivia beach: it is located 44 km south of the capital. It is a relaxing beach, surrounded by trees. It can be accessed by public bus. There are many taverns and restaurants on the spot. It is unorganized.

Lomvarda beach: it is located 30 km south of the capital. It is partly organized and sandy. The waters are calm and it is close to vouliagmeni which offers plenty of restaurants and taverns. It can be accessed by public bus.

Votsalakia beach: it is located 10 km south of the capital. It is pebbled, clear and it gets crowded. It can be accessed by public bus from pireaus center.

Voula beach: it is located 18 km south of the capital. It is a well organized one. There are beach bars and a sportSchinias beach: it is located 45 km northeast of Athens. Vouliagmeni beach: it is located 23 km south of the capital. It is very organized with many facilities. It is the best organized beach of Athens. You can access it by using the bus from Athens center to Glyfada and then another bus to there.

Vouliagmeni Lake: it is located 23 km south of the capital. It is a natural lake 12 meters deep. It is good for swimming. You can relax in a café that is there by the lake.
