The island’s mountainous mainland (its’ tallest mountain Aimos reaches 1628 meters height) and its’ abundance of water makes an environment ideal for walking, hiking, cycling, while there are also facilities for horse riding. The traveller can also enjoy activities related to water sports such as jet skiing, banana boats and rings, water-skiing, wakeboarding and parasailing, offered in many resorts. The island also has facilities for Scuba-diving both for beginners and experienced divers. Like all Ionian Islands Kefallonia is ideal for sailing and visitors have the opportunity to sail around the Kefallonia and Ithaca. Finally there are many cultural events taking place on the island, especially in the summer and some of them are really worth attending.
