Corfu cuisine is mainly Mediterranean, based in oil, pasta and vegetables. It is slightly different from the cuisine of the rest of Greece, due to the climate and due to the Venetian influence. Most restaurants of the island have some Corfu recipes in their menu as well as classical Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. Cafes and luxury restaurants as well as tiny local taverns are situated in imposing squares, in palaces or in the fortress. Liston square and Esplanade is populated with cafes.
