Several graves of Cycladic era which contained pottery, as well as tools made of opsidianos and figurines were found in naxos and are now placed in the archeological museum of Athens, British museum and at the local museum. Cycladic cemeteries were found at the villages of Glyfa, Panagia , Episkopiana , Dryos.
In Naoussa in Koukounaries Hill , a settlement of the late Mycenaean period was found, it was surrounted by walls and had a palace inside. The settlement was abantonedbecause of a fire and at its place during Geometrical period a new settlement was established.
In Parikia at the hill of Kastro , remains of an ancient Temple of 6th century BC were found. Only the foundation of this temple can be seen today.
PARIA LITHOS: The local marble was called Paria Lithos , it is of excellent quality. Hermes of Praxitelis and Venus of Milos was made of that marble, as well as the temple of Apollonas at Delphi. The ancient pit was at marathi place 5 km North East. In the south part of the pit there is a relief of Hellenistic period , dedicated to the nymphs , works of marble of Paros are in the museums of Berlin and New York.
