You can get to Naxos Island by airplane or by ferry. Early booking is recommended (especially for airplane reservations as there is one route daily from Athens airport and lasts 45 minutes) in high season (July & August). Getting to the Island by ferry, the trip duration is approximately 5 hours and 3 hours & 40 minutes by catamaran from Piraeus port. Tourists can use ferries and get to Naxos Island via nearby islands such as Paros, Syros, Koufonissi, Ios, Amorgos, Santorini etc. Concerning the local transport there are many choices. There are daily bus departures from ‘Chora’ (Naxos capital) to the villages. Buses depart from the bus station that is next to the port and you need to buy the tickets from the ticket’s office or souvenir shop before you board. Do not forget to check out the timetable in order to avoid get stack in a village. Remember that schedules are liquid as buses move in their own rhythm!

A mountain bike could be the ideal solution for small routes. Naxos capital (chora) has two public parking areas. The first parking is located at the end of the port and the second at ‘Grotta’ area.
